This guy gets the best graduation gift ever.. or does he?
Guess he wasn’t so lucky. In Dutch this is what we call: making someone happy with a dead sparrow. The kid is goes berserk over his gift, which he
believes to be the yellow Camaro, while his parents don’t have the heart to
tell him what his present actually is.
Understandably, the kid freaks out about
his presents and immediately calls his friends.. until he sees his neighbor
drive away in it. It’s kind of cruel, but hilarious.
I think we can blame the parents for the confusion: to blindfold the guy just
for mini fridge is quite misleading,
The idea of
this commercial came from Zach Borst, who submitted the video in the contest on
chevroletroute66.com. Joel Ewanick, chief marketing officer, said: “When I saw Zach’s spot, I had to laugh because the situation is something many families can relate to—expectation and reality.”
This idea isn’t that original, however. Thrifty Car & Truck rental used a
similar spot in 2007: a girl thinks she gets a car for her birthday, which is
true, except for the fact that it’s only a one day rental.
And Honda also had a similar spot: while the dad is taking of the blindfold, a
much better car parks in front of the actual gift, leading the graduate to
believe that car is her present.
